Does fuel or energy consumption increase significantly with a roof box?

Lesezeit: < 1 Minute zu lesen

For vehicles with a combustion engine, driving at 130 km/h doesn’t lead to a noticeable increase in fuel consumption—it’s about the same as the extra fuel used by a constantly running air conditioner.

For electric cars, the extra energy consumption can be significantly higher, depending on the model. On longer trips, expect to make one or two additional charging stops. If your car has a tow bar, you might want to rent a rear cargo box instead, as it has little effect on fuel or energy consumption.
